Newington, New Hampshire's residents have created a community that
strikes a comfortable balance between healthy economic development and
rural qualify of life. Newington's access to the Piscataqua River, as well
as the Great Bay and Little Bay waterfronts, offers both commercial
opportunity and a scenic natural environment. The bays provide wildlife
with a rich estuarine habitat, recently designated by the government as a
research reserve. The town has also taken care to preserve its history. In
1987, Newington's historic district was added to the National Register of
Historic Places. Residents take advantage of convenient shopping and
dining on Woodbury Avenue and at the town's own Fox Run Mall and Newington
Malls, which provide jobs for over 1,500 seacoast workers. Single-family
housing dominates Newington's residential area.
